Mustard Seed Faith
Do we have mustard seed faith? Do we really believe that God hears our prayers? That He will answer them? That He cares? That He is all powerful? That He can do anything?
It is easy to say “yes” when everything is good in our lives. But, when difficult times arise, sometimes we begin to doubt our own faith. At least I do. Is that true for you also?
The Bible says that we only need the faith of a mustard seed. A mustard seed is tiny. It is the smallest of seeds. Yet the Lord promises us that if can have faith even that small, we can see mountains moved.
It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth. Mark 4:31
There is nothing God cannot do.
There is nothing that God cannot do, if we will just believe Him and ask for what we need. I recently was reminded of this promise of God, when someone I love was going through a very difficult time.
When someone we love is hurting, so are we.
We hate to people we love inconsolable.
Have you been there too? Oh, how it hurts us too. We ache for them. We want to make it better.
As adults sometimes our hurt is almost unbearable and it can last for a very long time. Oh how we want to make their world better.
God cares.
He loves us. We are reminded in God’s Word of His love for each of us. It is an amazing love.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
“Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.” Isaiah 49:15
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
God only wants the best for us. We can rely on that. God is faithful and true to His Word.
We don’t have to wonder about that, we can be confident of God’s love for us and our loved one. What a sweet promise.
Knowing of God’s love for our each of us, should help us as we see our loved ones endure hurt or heartbreak of any kind. God knows what they are going through. He Cares!
What can we do? Pray
Call upon Jesus. Pray for them. Praying seems like such a passive thing for us to do, but it’s not.
Please, friend, hear me on this – prayer is the most powerful thing we can do.
God wants to hear our prayers. He is waiting for us to tell Him what we want. That includes what we want for our loved ones.
God does not want to see any of us hurting or with a broken heart.
He wants us to have peace in our soul.
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
God is all powerful.
There is nothing God cannot do. Nothing at all.
He is busy working miracles around us every single day. Our loved one’s relief from hurt or heartbreak can be His next miracle.
And the Lord promises that all we need is faith the size of a mustard seed. If we aren’t sure we have that much faith, then we can ask Him to help us have that much faith. He is able!
And the Lord said, “If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.” Luke 17:6
“… for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you” Matthew 17:20b
“Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also is ye shall say unto this mountain. Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.” Matthew 21:21
Friend, if you or a loved one is going through a time of hurt or heartbreak, please rest upon the promises of God. Have faith that He will see each of you through this. He is faithful and trustworthy.
May you be encouraged to begin with mustard seed faith. Believe God. He can be trusted! Your faith can grow far beyond that of a mustard seed, but it is a starting point.
Trust Him and see what God will do!
Having mustard seed faith is all we need in order to build a relationship with God. We just have to be willing to endure the test that come to understand who God is in our life.
Yes. We need to listen and have patience sometimes in order to see God working in our lives.
YES to a wonderful post! The other thing we must do is read God’s word…not only for spiritual sustenance but to be reminded we are all but human, saved by grace, somewhere within that “great cloud of witnesses” and God has already done the hard work.
You are so right. Reading God’s Word helps us to know who God is and who we are to Him.
