Practicing Praise Challenge
You are invited to join us for the Practicing Praise Challenge. It is a simple challenge and will last for one month.
We’ll be focusing our thankfulness this next month on who God is.
Our Heavenly Father loves to hear our praises!
The Practicing Praise Challenge is simple
For the next month, let’s spend some time each day thanking and praising God just for who He is.
Practice
Practice means to perform a particular activity regularly.
Praise
Praise is to express warm approval or admiration of someone or something.
So, for the next month, let’s regularly praise God for who He is.
Our goal is to make this a habit and the best way to create a habit is to do it for a consecutive number of days (21 days is usually recommended).
Christ Showed Us How
In the Scriptures, when Jesus teaches us how to pray, He begins with praise and recognition of His Heavenly Father.
Matthew 6:9-13 King James Version (KJV)
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Let’s start with the right attitude.
I have found that sometimes as we pray we tend to just “get going” in the prayer. Do you know what I mean? We forget to take the time to praise the Lord for who He is first. Recognizing God for who He is and who He is in our lives is important for setting the right tone for our prayer.
I know that it certainly changes my heart and my attitude when I think of God’s majesty and His love for me.
After all, God is all we need. We know that to be true. As Christians, we know that in our heads, but do we know it in our hearts. Do we live it out in our lives? This challenge is designed to help us grow in recognizing God throughout our day.
God is Waiting
Each day when we awaken, God is there, willing to talk with us, just waiting on us to start the conversation. What better way to start that conversation, then to begin by praising God for who He is.
We have different needs from one day to the next. For example, one day we don’t feel well, so we need God as our Healer (Jeremiah 17:14). Another day we may be feeling anxious and we need God as our Comforter (Psalm 23:4). Perhaps another day, as we look outside and we see the beauty of the world God has given us, we want to recognize Him as Creator (Genesis 1:1).
This list could go on and on. And, that’s exactly what we’re going to do. For the next month, we are going to recognize God for who He is in our lives. Hopefully, this will begin a lifelong habit.
This is going to be a great way to start our day.
