Praying for Family

Simple Prayer Journal, praying for family
Praying for Family Page

Today we are going to create a Praying for Family Page for our Simple Prayer Binder.

I doubt that I need to say much about this topic, because I know that each of you regularly prays for your family members.  We love them and we want the best for them.

There are so many members of our family aren’t there?  I don’t know who you may think of first.  I guess it depends what season of your life you are in.  Here are some of the family members that come to mind when I think of family members for this page (really it’s several pages).

Family Members

  • Our adult children
    • Their spouse (future spouse)
  • Our grandchildren
  • My Mom
  • Our Siblings and their families

That’s just naming a few… You may have other family members that you wish to create pages for.

This is how I do my Praying for Family pages:

  • Our adult children that are not married get a page of their own
  • Adult children that are married, get a page with their spouse
  • Grandchildren share a page (at least for now, because I can easily put both of them on one page)
  • My Mom has her own page
  • Our siblings (I have four, my husband has three, and they all have families) all go on a single page.  I just list prayer requests for them as I become aware of a need.

By the way, I don’t put my husband in this section, because he has a section all his own.  We’ll get to that one another day.

Mark 11:24

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Ideas for your Praying for Family page

There are many different areas that we may want to pray about regularly for our immediate family members.  Some would be:

  • Salvation / Walk with the Lord
  • Health
  • Relationships
  • Safety
  • Financial wisdom
  • Employment

I’m sure you will think of even more areas that you may wish to pray about for your family members.  If you are like me, some of your family members may not know the Lord as their personal Savior.  Isn’t it wonderful to know that we can not only pray for their salvation, but we can also pray for other things in their lives?  They may not know the Lord, but we do, and God has promised to answer our prayers.

I John 5:15, Prayer Journal, praying for family

What a joyous day it will be when the Lord answers our prayers for their salvation!  I can’t wait!    One of my favorite verses is:

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you

the  desires of   your heart.  Psalm 37:4

I know that praying for the salvation of family members is within God’s will, and since it is also my desire, then I can trust Him that He will answer this prayer.

Tomorrow I’ll share a few pictures of ideas for your Praying for Family page. I am also planning to include one that will be free for my subscribers to download.

Please allow me to encourage you – don’t give up praying for your family members.  Whatever the issue may be, God is bigger!  He can and does do amazing things!  Trust Him and share your cares for your family members with Him.

Record your Prayers

Write what you are praying about for your family members on your Praying for Family pages and then be sure to record when God answers those prayers.  You will have a record of amazing blessings!

Next week, we will continue with another page for your Simple Prayer Journal.

Be sure to check out this page to see a list (and links to) all of the pages in this series.

    1. Thank you so much. What a compliment that is. When I think about the fact that some of my family members aren’t even spending time in prayer, I am reminded how important it is that I am on my knees praying for them.
