Praying for Me

Praying for Yourself

Praying for Me

Why you should create a Praying for Me page

Are you ready to create a Praying for Me Page?  Sometimes we are so focused on other people and other things during our prayer time that we forget the necessity of praying for ourselves.

And yet, praying for ourselves is extremely important.

Think about it. Have you considered the myriad of roles that you carry on your shoulders?

You know the saying “If Mama ain’t happy, nobody’s happy.”  Although that is definitely not one of my favorite sayings, the reality is that our mood, attitude, thoughts, etc. affect everyone else in our home.

And, in fact, it can impact everyone we come in contact with (even if that contact is online or by phone or by text, etc.)

When we think of ourselves (me) in that context, we get a big picture view of how important praying for me is.

It’s imperative that our hearts are right with the Lord.  Oh, how we need Him every moment of the day, in every single one of our roles and responsibilities.

Here are just a few of the roles that many of us have:

Wife

Mother

Daughter

Sister

Grandmother

Mother-in-Law

Employee

Friend

Leader

Mentor

That’s a lot of roles and a lot of responsibility.  How many of those roles apply to you?  Are there even more roles that you have that you could add to this list?

Dear sister let me assure you that God wants to guide you in each of your roles.  He wants you to share with Him your concerns about those responsibilities.  God wants you to know that He can help you as you strive to do your best in each of those roles.

Praying for Me Page

I have two ideas to share for creating your Praying for Me page for your Simple Prayer Journal.

Idea 1

The first is that you divide a sheet of paper into 9 sections (like a tic-tac-toe board) using a marker.  Put your name or “Me” in the center square.  Now put one of your roles in each of the other 8 sections.

You could add some Bible verse references within each box that apply to that particular role, or you could write in some issues that you struggle with for that role.

Idea 2

The other option for your Praying for Myself page is that you can re-purpose the free Praying for Family page that we used earlier in this series.  The layout is perfect for putting your name on the top and then adding your roles in the lower boxes.   Under each role you can add some of the top issues that you face in that role.  Make as many copies as you need.

Add some Fruit to your Praying for Me page

In addition to praying about the roles that you have, I’d like to encourage you to also add a Fruit of the Spirit section to your Praying for Me page.  With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can live showing this fruit in our lives: Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Faith, Meekness and Temperance.  It will help you grow and help you to be a blessing to others.

Galatians 5:22, 23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

May the Lord bless you as you prepare your Praying for Me.  I hope that you will be encouraged to pray for the many promises in God’s Word for yourself.  They are intended to help you grow and to learn to trust Him for all things.

Our Next Page

In our next several posts for your Simple Prayer Journal, we’re going to be creating some simple pages that may be ones you won’t be praying over every single day, but you still may wish to include them in your Simple Prayer Journal. We’ll talk a bit more about that in the next post.
