Today we are going to add a Waiting on God page to our Simple Prayer Journal.
How is your Simple Prayer Journal coming? We are just getting started. There are so many more pages that we will be adding.
Keep in mind that each of our Simple Prayer Journals will be different. You can add as few, or as many, of the recommended pages or ideas that you want.
Have you ever thought about how hard it is to be still? To still our mind; our thoughts. I find it extremely difficult to still my thoughts.
Waiting on God page
Today, we will create a Waiting on God page, free style. You can use whatever method you want. Here’s some ideas:
- Write “WAITING ON GOD” down the center of the page.
- Write “Waiting on God” as a header on the page and then add a verse that reminds you to focus on God.
- Draw something creative.
- Design a page on your computer.
The choice is yours.
Early in our prayer time, we may wish to purposefully add a time to simply sit and Be Still before God. We could just spend time thinking about God. Thinking about His love and His goodness to us; anticipating His presence during our prayer time.
This can be such a great practice for our prayer time. Just focus on God and wait on Him.
This page in our Simple Prayer Journal will simply serve as a reminder for us to stop and be still as we enter into our prayer time.
In Psalm 46:10 we read, “Be still and know that I am God…”
There are so many times in our lives when we need to be still and let God…
- Lead us
- Take care of us
- Show us His goodness
- Answer our prayers (in His time)
That’s just a few ways that we need to let God…in our lives. I’m sure you can name many more times that we need to just let God…
When Silencing your mind is difficult
I have to be honest and tell you that I have an extremely hard time silencing my mind. On those times when I am struggling to spend this time waiting on God, I may simply spend time talking to God about His goodness.
Another tip that I sometimes use is to sing a song. Here’s one of my favorites for this part of my prayer time. It’s one I learned many years a ago.
There’s Something About That Name
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
There’s just something about that Name,
Master, Savior, Jesus,
Like the fragrance after the rain.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
Let all heaven and earth proclaim,
Kings and Kingdoms may all pass away,
But there’s something about that Name.
Songwriters: Gloria Gaither / Willam J. Gaither

Just in case you aren’t familiar with that song, I found a video of Bill and Gloria Gaither singing it.
Many times I’ll simply sing this song to God during this part of my prayer time. It is my desire to focus on the words and truly sing them from my heart (but quietly, since I’m usually the only one up at that time).
In our next post for your Simple Prayer Journal, we’ll be talking about a adding a Repentance page.
